Pewsey Vale U12 Youth Team in action against Devizes – Sunday 13 October 2019

The deluge subsided and a thick drizzle set in as the Pewsey U12’s took to the field for their first match of the season, a friendly versus Devizes.

With a full bench of subs Pewsey were able to loan Devizes a couple of players to make up their numbers in lieu of some late comers.  And so it came to pass that Mattie and Chris played their first 10 minutes of rugby for Pewsey in the black vests of their opponents!

It was a game of two halves with Pewsey dominating the first half magnificently, sailing into half time with an impressive 6-2 lead.

The second half saw Devizes fight back admirably, but Pewsey held firm for a 10-7 win.  A special mention at this point for Harry, Riley, Callum and Matthew, all of whom scored tries.

What was so very impressive, apart from the final score, was the fantastic tackling, technical manoeuvres and team work which made the match such a pleasure to watch.  All the more admirable given there were six of the team playing their first competitive game for Pewsey!  Clearly demonstrates a lot of hard work during training from players and coaches alike.

Well done Pewsey U12’s.  Can’t wait to see you in action again soon!
