PEWSEY PERSERVERE TO SEIZE VICTORY AT THE DEATH
Pewsey ran out winners in this tightly fought, at times fractious, contest; claiming victory with the last kick of the game.
Pewsey dominated the first quarter. Five minutes in number eight Phil Vallis picked up from the base of a penalty scrum to crash over between the posts, scrum half Tom Flippance added the extras.
Fifteen minutes later hooker Jeremy Horton galloped down the narrow side from thirty metres out to score in the corner, Flippance adding the two points.
Supermarine broke their duck when the left wing grabbed an intercept and sprinted in from his own twenty two, converted. On forty minutes, from a line out, the visitors drove over to take their tally to 12 points at half time.
From the restart Supermarine held field position and scored a converted try on ten minutes.
The game then became a penalty fest that interrupted the flow of the game resulting in a stalemate played out in mid field.
With the final play of the match Pewsey centre Jamie Fox broke the deadlock scoring a fine individual try in the left hand corner. With the score at 19 – 19 Flippance stepped up and slotted the conversion from thirty five metres to seize victory.
